Exploring Media, Technology, and Culture Through Teaching & Research
I have taught a wide range of university-level courses in Mass Communication and the Humanities, each exploring communication theory and media studies at the intersections of media, technology, and culture. My teaching emphasizes creative thinking, critical analysis, and practical skill-building for today’s digital learners, with course designs that engage students through dynamic, media-rich formats.
My graduate research examines how media technologies reshape cultural and educational practices through both ethnographic fieldwork and critical analysis. My master’s thesis explored the integration of digital media at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, investigating tensions between technological innovation and traditional folk pedagogy.
My doctoral dissertation analyzed how BBC documentarian Adam Curtis uses music as a rhetorical tool in his radical journalism, examining the political dimensions of aesthetic pleasure in documentary filmmaking.
Together, these projects demonstrate my expertise in communication theory, media studies, and research methodologies that bridge academic analysis with real-world applications in education and media production.
